How Australian Survivor drives success

The greatest Survivors the Australian game has ever seen are coming back, hungry, stronger and shrewder than ever before.

Premiering on 10 at 7.30pm on Monday, 3 February, Australian Survivor: All Stars will see the smartest, toughest and most strategic players go head-to-head to become the ultimate Sole Survivor.

Of the 24 players returning, only Shane Gould and Jericho Malabonga have previously tasted victory. While they may be looking for a return to glory, the remaining 22 contestants are ready for redemption and revenge.

And our partners are ready for some of the most innovative and effective brand integrations on Australian TV!

Season after season, Australian Survivor has delivered impressive results for our partners and demonstrated the power of making brands part of a TV show’s narrative.

Consider MG Motor Australia. To promote the new compact MG ZS SUV, MG Motor and 10 created a nail-biting challenge in the show, including myriad product shots during the challenge and a massive reveal at the end. The excited winner, Abbey, drove the MG ZS to a picnic, taking two fellow contestants with her. On the drive, the trio talked animatedly about the SUV’s key features.

The in-program challenge and reward were amplified by a consumer promotion and posts from the Network 10 and Australian Survivor social media accounts. Integrated playouts used footage from the show to direct viewers to 10 Play to enter the competition to win an MG ZS.

The campaign drove a dramatic spike in consumer search activity for MG. TThe client was happy with the impact of the sponsorship, the winning contestant was happy with her new MG ZS and we were happy that the client was happy.

Australian Survivor: All Stars will take game-playing, rivalry and scheming to a new level. According to 2018 Australian Survivor winner Shane, defeating her competitors for a second time will be monkey play.

Shane said: “I’ve studied chimpanzee politics, politics in the jungle and I think I can see quite a lot about how chimpanzees relate. It’s like some people in my tribe. I’m ready for monkey business.”

In order to be head of the tribe, Shane will have to beat out Mat and Lydia from her previous season; David and Harry from Season 4; Jericho, Locky, Henry, Tarzan and AK from Season 2; and Phoebe, Brooke, Flick and Nick from Season 1.

It wouldn’t be Australian Survivor without devious players, as Season 1 villain Nick knows all too well. “I’m the original Survivor snake, and now I’m going to be the king cobra,” he said. “If a snake can win any game of Australian Survivor, it’s All Stars.”
