Checking in with Linda Anastasiou

This month we check in with Adelaide Group Sales Manager, Linda Anastasiou, to find out a little more about her, her role and what it is that makes TV sales tick.

Q: What made you fall in love with TV?

A: I remember being in primary school sitting with my mum and sisters watching shows like Dallas and Dynasty. Big hair and amazing fashion. When I was old enough to fight them for the remote control programs like ER, Friends, Sex In The City and Charmed transported me away from everyday life. That’s what I love about TV – it can take you anywhere and you can be anyone!

Q: Tell us about how you found your way to 10. Had you always planned to work in TV?

A: Around the age of 22, I had a real interest in media and thought it would be a great industry to work in. Three weeks later I had a job at Nine selling to direct clients and I have never looked back. Twenty four years later, I still think TV is a great industry to work in and wouldn’t want to work anywhere else.

Q: What do you think is important to know when selling TV?

A: We must know our product and we must know our clients. Relationships are so important in this industry. Transparency and delivery are vital in building trust with our clients and ensures their confidence in the 10 brand, ultimately leading to sales and repeat business.

Q: And what is it about 10 that grabbed you the most?

A: It would have been around 16 years ago when I moved from Nine to 10. At that time 10 was televising AFL and Australian Idol. The programming and the people are what made me take the leap. I then had two daughters and returned to work in agency land (at MEC now Wavemaker). When I got the call from 10 offering me a new position I couldn’t resist and had to come back. I also worked through the MCN takeover and I have to say coming back to 10 is like coming back home. There is nothing like working at the under 50s network and, yes, I am still under 50!

Q: What’s next for TV in your opinion?

A: I believe TV is still going to be the highest reaching medium and we are going to continue watching it in different ways across multiple devices. The introduction of VOZ is exciting. Perhaps being served ads targeted to each individual viewer isn’t that far away.

Q: What’s next for Linda?

A: I can honestly say I am very content and happy working in the Adelaide Sales Team at 10. It’s an evolving industry that keeps me constantly learning and keeps the adrenaline pumping. What an exciting time to be working at 10. I really wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

Q: Finally, how are you finding work now we’ve begun the potentially long return to normal? Has anything changed for the better since isolation?

A: Time in isolation has definitely proven that our team has the ability to work remotely and I am grateful that 10 allowed us flexible working hours, particularly with children at home. However, nothing comes close to working together in the same environment and seeing your teammates in the flesh on a daily basis. I have definitely missed the Adelaide Team and am looking forward to being reunited in the office soon.
